Biography

Sheila is a native New Yorker who has been tutoring since she was in high school . She began professionally tutoring while completing her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at Columbia University. After graduation, she spent several years in blood transfusion research at Columbia Medical Center while she continued to tutoring students privately. She is now working on her PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology at Rutgers University and serves as a teaching assistant for several undergraduate biology courses. Sheila's passion for teaching is evident in her patience, compassion, and dedication. After working for years with so many different students, Sheila can adapt her approach to the full range of learning styles and learning differences. She loves teaching one on one because she tailors her methods to each student's specific way of thinking and learning. Her goal is that her students will one day not need her, since they will have the confidence and skills to achieve their academic goals on their own.
